What is the Salt Air Retreat?

This will be a destination fueled experience where burgeoning songwriters will immerse

themselves in the inspiring Outer Banks through curated cultural and environmental experiences.

They will engage in creative workshops with a host of established professionals who will give

guidance and gentle critiques to help writers of all levels hone their skills. In addition,

participants will attend performances by the guest instructors and also have the opportunity to

perform at the storied Pioneer Theater.

This will be a transformative experience where creatives will find inspiration from exploring

the communities and natural environment of these incredible barrier islands, while also being

introduced to new and varied techniques for creating songs that deeply connect with listeners.

Over the five-day retreat, participants will be inspired by local story tellers, historians, and

environmentalists while on morning outings, attend curated small-group workshops in the

afternoon focusing on the craft of song making, and enjoy evening performances of original

music while making new friendships with other creatives from around the country.

The Salt-Air Songwriting Retreat will be an opportunity to break away from the daily routines

and distractions that often stand in the way of creating and finishing the songs you were meant to

write.
